Remote sensing datasets can often be available in difficult to handle formats for the non-specialists, such as netCDF and HDF, and may be large in size and/or with a large numbers of files if long time series datasets are being analysed.  This workshop will provide a hands-on introductory course for the non-specialist user who is often not a computer programmer.  It will focus on freely available ocean colour and sea surface temperature datasets and the packages that are available to analyse them; including both visualisation of the data and incorporation of remote sensing data into a GIS environment.

If you are registering for the course please provide a brief overview of your current experience in this area. In addition, if participants are interested in particular activities/packages/datasets then please feel free to contact the course organiser so that these might be included, but this will be within the constraints of a one day course and software availability.
